If you've ever taken group photos at weddings or other events, you may have had to deal with one or two different people blinking in each shot. In this article, I'll give you a few tips on how to solve this photography issue.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The desire to take group photos that don't have people blinking in them.
  1. Step 1

First, there's a very easy technique to solve this issue that I learned this from a professional wedding photographer. Have the entire group shut their eyes. Tell everyone to open their eyes on the count of three. On three, take your shot or shots.

  2. Step 2

Set your camera to take multiple shots when you press the shutter. Combined with step number one, this should get you a least one or two great shots even with the most chronic blinkers.

  3. Step 3

With outdoor photography, consider where the sun is relative to your subjects. You never want to have people squinting into the sunlight. The same may apply to getting people around flowering plants who may have allergies to pollen.

Tips & Warnings
  • People don't do it on purpose, but I've noticed if you count to three with everyone's eyes open that some people involuntarily blink in anticipation of the flash going off.
