Ever notice how the tiniest rocks and debris manage to stay locked in your car's carpet AFTER you vacuumed it? Here's a tip that the pros use when detailing a car. Use an air compressor with a blow gun attachment in conjunction with your shop vac. The compressed air blasts those hard to reach particles out of the smallest nooks and crannies and makes vacuuming a breeze!

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Shop Vac or vacuum cleaner with attachments
  • Air compressor with blowgun attachment.
  • Damp sponge
  • Elbow grease

Step1
Air compressors such as this provide an awesome amount of cleaning power. First, remove all floor mats, loose items, umbrellas, etc from the interior of your vehicle. Shake out the floor mats...set aside. Take air compressor and hook up blow gun.
Step2
This is the secret weapon...using compressed air releases all those little embedded rocks. Second, shoot the blow gun in all the tight spaces where your vacuum hose can't reach. If possible, attach a small jet pipe on the end of the gun to reach the tiniest crevices.
Step3
The Shop vac is a remarkable invention...so much power and versatility! Thirdly, follow up the jetting with your shop vac. You'll be amazed at the amount of debris and trash you have stirred loose using the compressor. If you are somewhat ambidextrous (able to use both hands at the same time), continue to jet loose particles with one hand while vacuuming with the other.

Tips & Warnings

  • when encountering a stain or deep ground-in grime, try to toss your mats in the washing machine. Don't dry them in the dryer, though...just let them hang to dry.
  • Might be a good thing to wear safety goggles when jetting loose debris with the compressor....don't want to put an eye out.
