Here is a very simple way to get rid of head lice. Even children with the cleanest hair will occasionally come home with these annoying pests. Sometimes the shampoos they sell in stores won't get rid of them either! Try this, it works!
Have your child hang their head over the tub then carefully poor the rubbing alcohol onto their head. Be VERY careful not to get any into their eyes. Have them hold a towel on their forehead to be on the safe side.
Step2
Be sure to fully saturate hair and you will notice the lice simply fall out of your childs hair. The alcohol suffocates them.
Step3
Now thoroughly shampoo hair and rinse.
Step4
After hair drys and is combed out, use a bright light to spot the eggs and pick them out with your finger. Use your nails to pop the eggs to make sure they die.
Step5
Now repeat this process once a week for 3 weeks to get any new hatchings.
Tips & Warnings
Be sure to fully saturate hair.
Start by the ears and nape of the neck since that is where lice like to hide
Be sure to wash all bedding and put all stuffed animals and pillows in the dryer for 15 minutes on high
Throw away old hair brushes and combs and buy new ones. Some store bought products will tell you to soak them, but I would throw them out to be on the safe side.
Remind your child not to share towels, jackets, hair brushes, etc.
Face masks at Halloween time can also spread lice, please remind your children not to share these as well.
Be very careful using rubbing alcohol, you DO NOT want to get this into your childs eyes.
IF some does get into their eyes, flush immediately with water.
