How to find your skin tone

Have you ever been shopping and seen clothing on a mannequin and all you could think was, “How hot would I look in that!”. Only to get it home and realize the color made you look hideous! Finding the right hair color can be a similar challenge. The ability to see a hair color and know that it will look great on you is one that takes a skill and practice. Keep reading and find out how to find the right hair color.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Two pieces of material one- Silver, one Gold
  • 10 minutes
Step1
Using the two pieces of material (one-silver, one-gold) place the gold material against your face first. How does it look? Now the silver? Which looks better against your skin? The one that looks best will guide you in your best color choices
Step2
If silver looks best on you then cool tones will look great on you. Deep shades ranging in Blue & violet, cool reds (red-violets) & yes if you want blue- green. Rich browns and reds work best for natural looking hair color. For highlighting tones that will work with your base color, discuss this further with your colorist.
Step3
If Gold looks best on you then warm tones will look great on you. Warm red, orange, brown and burgundy.
Step4
Knowing this information share it with your stylist and ask them for their advise.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more you know the easier this is for you, read a couple books on the topic.
  • Color me beautiful is the longest standing on that seems to have the most popularity.
  • Silver natural color ranges from darkest black to lightest blonde
  • Gold natural color ranges from golden blonde to brown
  • The more pink or red the skin is add honey or caramel tones to balance
