Making laundry detergent can save you more money than you think, last longer and can clean your clothes as good as Tide if not better.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Borax
  • Washing Soda
  • Lava Soap

Step1
Buying the ingredients are as easy as going to your local walmart or grocery store.
Step2
Using a measuring cup make sure you use the same amount of borax as you do washing soda. 1-2 cups each is sufficient. Mix together with your hand or with a wooden spoon.
Step3
Next use a grater to grate the lava soap into the mixture. This may take a few minutes but is well worth the effort.
Step4
After grating the soap mix ingredients well. And your ready for use. Adding peroxide to the mixture can be done to form balls that you can keep separate so there is no measuring of the detergent just grab a ball of detergent and toss in your wash. One ball may even last through two washings but rest assure the clothes will be clean. The ball should be no bigger though than a silver dollar, just a tad bigger than a quarter is the perfect size.

Tips & Warnings

  • If making the detergent balls, putting them in their own plastic bags will help keep them from joining together.
  • Careful not to let it dust up when making the detergent, you do not want to breathe it in.
