When you're out on that camping trip and you need to get creative with the few snacks you remembered to bring along, now you've got a sure-fire way to make the whole family's desert and night.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 Adult for supervision
  • 1 Smoldering campfire
  • 1 Marshmallow stick or any wooden stick
  • 1 Long, ripe banana
  • 1 Ft square piece of aluminum foil
  • 1 Hershey bar
  • Some marshmallow cream (or some small marshmallows)
  • 1 plastic knife
  • 1 plastic spoon

Step1
Cut the unpeeled banana lengthwise, down the middle with the plastic knife. Be sure to cut it only halfway, so it's not in two pieces. The goal is to make it look like a canoe.
Step2
Pry open the banana a little with your hands and insert pieces of the chocolate bar, the marshmallow cream or tiny marshmallows.
Step3
Wrap up the banana boat with the piece of aluminum foil well enough to avoid any spillage.
Step4
Have an adult help you place the wrapped up dessert on the coals of the campfire for a few minutes to let the marshmallow and the chocolate melt into a nice gooey mixture.
Step5
Using a stick or a marshmallow stick, roll the boat out of the coals so as to not burn your hands.
Step6
Carefully unwrap the foil with your hands (or an adult's hands), dip your plastic spoon in the boat and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • You always want to be careful around fire! Never let kids make this treat by themselves! Always watch and be ready to help them with the hot items.
