Company is going to arrive any minute, and Fluffy or Fido just decided to leave you a present on the carpet. No time to run to the store and get more stain remover? Many homes already have a household product that can take care of that stain quickly. Easy, fast, and very effectively, you can remove that stain without your company knowing a thing.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shaving cream (white foam is best)
  • Cloth towel
  • Spatula
  • 3 paper towel sheets
  1. Step 1

Remove excess dropping of feces or regurgitation with the spatula and dispose.

  2. Step 2

Fold the paper towels to cover the area if you are cleaning up urine and step on the paper towels with clad feet.

  3. Step 3

Use the spatula and shaving cream to completely cover the stained area. Leave a thickness of the lather at about 3/4 of an inch. Let stand for five minutes.

  4. Step 4

Use cloth to rub area vigorously. Scrub gently until only a minimal dampness remains.

Tips & Warnings
  • Shaving cream can be left on area up to half an hour while you complete other tasks.
  • If you wish the previously stained area to be more dry, just use more paper towels on damp area and repeat Step two until dry.
  • Shaving gel works but not as well. The gel just needs to be rubbed into a lather with the spatula before performing Step four.
  • You may leave shaving cream on as a five second fix, if you need to leave for hours at a time. This keeps the stain from setting. Merely repeat Steps three and four when you return.
  • If gel is used, depending on the brand, it can add to the stain rather than clean it up.

on 7/26/2008 Great tip! I've never heard of using shaving cream for pet stains but I'm going to give it a try next time my puppy has an accident.
