How to Disable Specific Startup Programs on Your PC
The installation routine of a program may include different features. A common feature is the ability to set the program to start when you turn on your computer. Some programs make it easy to remove this feature and not start the program automatically. Unfortunately, a variety of programs make it difficult to find this setting in the program options. Many other programs will even install this option automatically and then make it difficult to remove. Fortunately the System Configuration Utility makes it easy to select the programs you don't want starting with your computer.

Tips & Warnings
Getting to know the System Configuration Utility is a useful skill -- it will boost your computer's performance and make you knowledgeable of the processes and programs that are running on your PC at any given time.
Until you have adequate knowledge of that program, don't check or uncheck boxes of programs that you are unsure of. Just leave it as is and look further into whether you need/don't need that program to run at startup.
