One way to save money on a wedding dress is to shop the sales after special events such as prom or homecoming. Many of the department stores will have all of their dresses on clearance (there are always white, ivory, or champagne colored dresses).

A second way to find an affordable wedding gown is to find a local consignment shop that specializes in wedding gowns or special occasion dresses. Many of these dresses were never even used. The original owner may have found another dress before her wedding and decided not to wear this one.

A third way to find a less expensive wedding dress is to visit wedding websites where brides blog. Many of the brides are trying to sell their wedding dresses for half the original price, if not less.
