When your back is up against the wall, here are a few tips you can utilize in order to maximize your performance on a test or quiz that's right around the corner.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your testing material
  • Your ideal studying location
  • Your choice of a pen, pencil, or highlighter
  • Notebook paper, note card, or laptop
Step1
Belief in the mind is the starting point for all achievement. Set yourself in the right mental frame of mind. Coach/encourage yourself by saying that you will do well on your test despite the circumstances. Be like Nike, and Just Do It!
Step2
Read the title of the chapter.

Read the outline of the chapter.

Read the conclusion/summary of the chapter.
Step3
Flip through the pages of the chapter. While doing so, read the subtitles listed therein.

Read any words that are highlighted in bold (and read the definition or key fact associated with that particular word).

Review/analyze any charts or images that you encounter as you flip through the pages of the chapter.

If your chapter includes any dates, read those as well (especially if it’s listed in a timeline form).
Step4
On your notebook paper, note card, or laptop; write/type the title of the chapter and subtitles of the chapter.

Use bullet points or number these items.

Read over this list 3-5 times.
Step5
On your notebook paper, note card, or laptop; write/type the definition or key fact of any word highlighted in bold.

Use bullet points or number these items.
Step6
Read the first and last sentence of each section that is listed under a particular subtitle within the chapter you are reviewing.

Congratulations, you are more prepared for this test or quiz than you would’ve been had you not utilized these useful tips. You should feel very good about yourself. Once again, be like Nike and Just Do It!
