Wet the hair with a styling product that will keep the hair in place, but will dry quick. This is to keep the loose ends together so that the knot looks smooth.

Start twisting the hair all together.

When the twist feels tight, start resting it close to the scalp around the base of the ponytail, keeping the tension tight on your twist.

As the twist rests at the scalp, begin fastening with a bobby pins. Use as many as it takes to keep the shape secure.

Continue twisting around the base of the ponytail and fastening with bobby pins until you run out of hair.

Now to tuck the ends in. Either into the center of the twist or underneath the outside edge of your shape near the base of the ponytail, get those ends under control and out of site.
