Instructions

      Holes in Mesh Type Basket

First you take your hanging basket; I prefer the mesh hanging basket, they are easier to cut with scissors. Or you can use the plastic kind also. You'll cut 2 to 4 wholes about one inch in diameter in the bottom sides of the planter. The number of wholes is dependent on how many tomato plants you want to grow.

After you've cut the holes you take your tomato plants out of their pots and lay the tomato plants down on their sides in the bottom of the hanging basket poking the plant portion through the holes you made, keeping the root section in the basket. After you've put all 2 or 4 tomato plants through the holes, put potting soil in the hanging basket and plant your marigold flowers on top.

Finished with 2 Marigold and 2 Grape Tomato Plants

Hang your basket and water as needed. Soon you will be enjoying your own delicious tomatos!

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't make the holes to large.

Nope, because the tomatoe plants may be growing out from under the planter but the plants actually reach for the sky. So they are standing straight up from the bottom all around the sides of the planter and around the marigolds. I have one growing now. I'm getting lots of tomatoes from it but I haven't had any bugs at all. Its fun to pick pesticide free tomoatoes from it. You should try it.
