Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pink, Red and White Card Stock
  • Silver Paint Pen
  • Red and Black Marker
  • White and Red Polymer Clay
  • Fancy Edge Paper Scissors (Fiskars® Victorian used)
  • Paper Cutter
  • Ruler
  • Strong Glue such as E-6000
  • +Pasta Machine (optional)
  • +Wavy Heart Cutter
  • +Kemper® 3⁄16”, 5⁄16” and 7⁄16” Heart Cutters
  • +Available at PolyClayPlay.com

Step1
Run white clay through the pasta machine on the second widest setting.
Step2
From this piece, cut several white hearts using the various sized Kemper® heart cutters.
Step3
Cut two 7⁄16” red hearts.
Step4
Marble the hearts with ½ ounce of *conditioned white clay. To marble, mix the red and white clay by twisting it and running it through the pasta machine until you start getting marbled streaks on the clay sheet. Note: If you continue to mix, the clay will become completely pink.
Step5
When you have a marbled pattern you like, cut a wavy heart from the sheet.
Step6
Cut various sized pink and red hearts.
Step7
Bake all the hearts following your clay package directions.
Step8
INSIDE OF THE CARD: Cut a piece of pink card stock to 8½” X 5½”. Fold it in half. This is your card.
Step9
Cut three pieces of white card stock, each to
5½” X 2”. Set two pieces aside.
Step10
Write “Hearts Full of Love!” on one piece of white card stock, using a red marker. Trim the edges using your fancy edge scissors.
Step11
Glue this piece to the inside of your card.
Step12
OUTSIDE OF CARD: Trim the edges of the remaining two pieces of white card stock with your fancy edge scissors. Check to make sure these pieces fit across the front of your card.
Step13
Cut two pieces of red card stock each to 4¾” X 9”.
Step14
Lay the two red pieces on top of the white pieces you have cut out. Make sure the red card stock fits inside the edges of the fancy edged white papers. If they are too big, trim them to fit.
Step15
Lay a scrap piece of card stock very close to the edge of a red piece.
Step16
Color the red edge with a silver paint pen using the scrap to make a straight line. Repeat for all the edges on both pieces of red card stock.
Step17
Glue the red pieces to the white pieces of card stock making two stacked pieces.
Step18
Write “SENDING...” across one of the red pieces.
Step19
Glue the two stacked pieces to the front of the card, spacing them evenly as shown.
Step20
Glue a couple of clay hearts to this piece.
Step21
Glue the wavy heart to one side and various sized hearts across the bottom stacked piece.
Step22
Sign the inside of your card and send it to someone you love!
Step23

Tips & Warnings

  • The Cheer a Child Challenge is all about making greeting cards to send to sick kids that are needing operations or treatments.

  • Polymer Clay Playing can be addictive!
  • CONDITIONING CLAY: It is important to condition your clay to make it strong after baking. Conditioning is simply kneading it thoroughly by hand or with your pasta machine. If the clay is not conditioned well, it may break easily after curing.
  • STAMPS: You may need to add extra postage to a card decorated with polymer clay pieces because they add weight to the card.
