   Un plug the stove and lift out the burner in question

3. 

   Attached to the element is a receptacle. First check for loose connections, burnt wires or other obvious reasons of failure.

4. 

   With your meter set on the ohms scale check to see if the meter reads 0.00 If not the element is defective

5. 

   If all above items seem to be working the next step is to replace the infinite heat switch. This switch some times even if it turns the burner on can be defective.

   The way these switches work is by timing how long it stays on and how long it stays off. So if you find a burner is not staying on long enough this is usually your problem
