A homemade pizza crust and pizza is inexpensive and easy to make. This recipe will make 2 - 3 12" pizza crusts, depending on how thick you like your pizza crust.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 c. bread flour
  • 3/4 c. warm water
  • 1 T. instant dry yeast
  • olive or vegetable oil
  1. Step 1

Mix the instant dry yeast with 1/4 cup warm water and set aside for about 5 minutes or until the mixture begins to look foamy.

  2. Step 2

Mix the yeast mixture and flour together.

  3. Step 3

Begin to knead the yeast mixture and flour together. Slowly add water (1 tablespoon at a time) to this. Knead the dough until it begins to form a ball.

  4. Step 4

Once the dough ball has formed, continue to knead until smooth, about 5 - 6 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Place the dough ball in a lightly oiled bowl. Lay plastic wrap over the top of the bowl. Cover with a towel and place in a warm location until doubled in size - about an hour.

  6. Step 6

After the dough has doubled in size, place on a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough to the desired thickness.

Tips & Warnings
  • The dough ball should not be sticky - if it is sticky, slowly add flour to the dough and knead well.
  • Top the crust with toppings of your choice and bake at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes (or until your cheese is bubbly).
  • If you are using a pizza pan that does not have holes in the bottom, cook crust for 10 minutes before adding toppings. Then cook pizza and toppings for 20 minutes.
