Say goodbye to embarassing frizzies and big hair this summer! Here is a fast, simple and cheap way to solve this very common problem with a product that you already have in your bathroom cabinet! I learned this trick while on vacation in Punta Cana a few years ago. With such a thick head of long hair, I never imagined the low water pressure and hard water in the hotel would not even saturate through my entire head of now kinky hair! I couldn't even get my fingers through it! What was a girl to do?

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your favorite conditioner
  • Wide tooth comb or pick
  • Sunshine

Step1
Before you leave for the pool or beach, squirt a generous portion (about what you would use after shampooing)of your favorite conditioner into your hands.
Step2
Gently rub your hands together and apply evenly to dry or wet hair. Make sure to apply more conditioner to damaged ends. Extremely dry hair may need two applications.
Step3
After application, comb through your hair with a wide tooth comb or pick until smooth and silky.
Step4
Now head outside and let the conditioner bake into your hair. If wearing a hat or bandanna, that's ok! The heat and humidity will still condition your hair underneath in a major way.
Step5
At the end of your pool day, wash and/or condition as normal. You may need to wash twice if your hair is thin, but the conditioning results are amazing!

on 5/29/2008 Actually, onibas, what is stated in this article is correct. This comes from someone in Florida with lots of experience in this. Use a good condititoner and follow what the article says. It is like a deep conditioning treatment. Granted, if you swim alot it will not work.

on 4/12/2008 Moisture Block http://www.sabinohair.com, which actually locks in the essential proteins to protect the hair and maintains the elasticity of the hair and conditioning qualities from shampoo to shampoo.

Moisture Block also blocks out excess moisture from rain and humidity while locking in essential moisture, which can be depleted from the hair in hot, dry climates as well as cold and windy climates. The most amazing thing is that it blocks out chlorine and harmful overloads of salt from the ocean into the hair.

on 4/12/2008 These directions seem good but the the process of using conditioner fails. I like the idea of baking conditioner into the hair but unfortunately conditioners do not work that way. They are water soluble and after humidity or water has mixed in with the conditioner the proteins greatly suffer from degeneration and either dilute or dissipate. You are left with cream agents used to emulsify the product, which eventually cracks and can dry out your hair. Yes, what is left is better than the attack of sun burning into your hair but it’s not that much better. When it's rinsed, the hair feels softer because of the emulsifiers, which have little value in protecting the hair completely. There is the first waterproof product for hair called Moisture Block http://www.sabinohair.com, which actually locks in the essential proteins to protect the hair and maintains the elasticity of the hair and condi
