1. Begin by clearing out the clutter. Nothing makes a small space feel cramped then having to much clutter. With items neatly arranged the space will feel open.
2. Move furniture around where it’s not blocking the view into the room. By removing the furniture from the walkways, you’ll dramatically open up your space. You can also use ottomans, armless chairs, open chairs, low tables, and tall pieces along the wall rather than out in the open space.
3. Choose light colors and soft tones like shades of blues and greens. In addition use color schemes from the same color family. By choosing light, cool colors it sure to open up any small space.
4. Lastly, lighting is very important. Any room will look larger if it is well lit. This can be done naturally or artificially. Get rid of heavy draperies and add more lamps or track lighting.
