How to Promote Your Blog

The purpose of a blog is to be able to have an outlet to post more opinionated writing pieces, or occasionally even research pieces. Unlike a journal, which is generally kept to yourself, blogs are usually more interesting when people read them. Here are some ways to maximize hits for your blog.

1. Make sure your blog is worth promoting. To achieve this be sure you are posting quality content and doing so frequently.

2. Set up an email signature or away message including links to your blog(s). Those you email will subconsciously wonder where the links lead.

3. Websites like Facebook and MySpace are tremendous marketing tools. Why else would they be bought for gazillions of dollars? Be sure to play up your blog on these networking sites.

4. Post links in forums. If somebody is discussing a topic you previously wrote about, offer up your own insight by linking to a similarly written article of yours. It isn't obnoxious and may offer insight while simultaneously promoting yourself.

5. Comment on other blogs being sure to link yourself in the signature or sign-off. Do not be obnoxious and link to yourself anywhere else than the sign-off or signature.

6. Add a ton of keywords to your articles. People will be more likely to find your blog through search engines with the right keywords.
