Children of all ages, even toddlers and pre-school age children, love to help in the kitchen. There are a lot of fun things you can make with them that allow most of the work to be done by the kids themselves. This is a wonderful opportunity to share some time and have some fun with your children. Making food items for themselves is also a good self-esteem booster and a learning opportunity for children.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Apple
  • Gallon size locking plastic bag
  • 1 package of Jello, any flavor

Step1
Have your child wash their hands with soap and water.
Step2
Peel, core and slice an apple
Step3
Open the package of flavored Jello and, holding open the locking plastic bag, let your child pour the powder into the bag.
Step4
Still holding the back open, let your child add the apple slices to the Jello.
Step5
Seal the locking plastic bag and give it to your child. Have them shake the bag, turning it from side to side and upside down until the apple slices are coated.
Step6
When this is finished, open the bag and let your child take the coated apple slices out and put them in a bowl. They are now ready to eat. This is also a healthy and tasty flavored treat.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure and eat an apple slice yourself, telling your child how tasty the snack is and thanking them for making snacks to share.
