Who hasn't ever dreamed of playing in front of millions with just a guitar, a harmonica, and a microphone. This probably won't get you there but it will get you started

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a guitar six string or twelve string
  • a harmonica common keys are c,g, and e
  • a harmonica neck rack
  • a small watt amplifier
  • a microphone
  • talent
  • practice
  1. Step 1

If you don't have a guitar buy one. You can get a cheap one at a pawn shop but you will usually get what you pay for. Learn to play chord proggresions at different rythyms.

  2. Step 2

Buy some harmonicas and a neck rack. Learn to play some easy riffs such as Neil Young's "Heart of Gold" in key of g or Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In the Wind" in key of d. For most folk music the key of harmonica is the key that you play along with;however, there are some songs played in cross-harp style. Cross-harp is a blues style where you would play a song in key of g with a c harmonica.

  3. Step 3

Now start playing the guitar and harmonica together. Be sure to get a small amplifier and microphone. Find some gigs or play for your own enjoyment.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you find a store that will let you play on their street corner it's a great way to make a few extra bucks on the weekends. Do this at festivals and you will easily make $100
  • This takes time and some practice and can be hard if you don't have an ear for music
