Step1
The first thing you need to decide, when planning a vacation in Baltimore, is what your interests are. If you are an art and/or science connoisseur then you might want to take a stroll along the picturesque water front. The Inner Harbor is where you will find an array of shops, museums, and restaurants. The Baltimore Museum of Art contains 130,000 works from greats such as Picasso, Monet, and Warhol.
Step2
If you are bringing children along, you may enjoy your time at Port Discovery. This 80,000 square foot attraction includes a mystery house, an Egyptian tomb, and plenty of hands on activities for the whole family to enjoy. If your little ones still aren’t satisfied, don’t fret, there is still the Baltimore Zoo, The National Aquarium, and the Maryland Science Center.
Step3
If you are more of a history buff then Baltimore has tons historical sites for you to explore. The star-shaped Fort McHenry was where inspiration struck Francis Scott Key to write our National Anthem.
Step4
Edgar Allen Poe passed away, unexpectedly, at the very young age of forty, right here in Baltimore. His tombstone, which can be found in Westminster Hall, is marked with a black raven. It is said that a special visitor comes ones a year to leave fresh flowers and cognac.
Step5
Night life in Baltimore offers a wide array of exciting things to appease any insomniac. For great dining, Baughers and Baldwin’s Station are among the finest. If you are in the mood for a little dancing, then you shouldn’t miss a stop at Baja Beach Club. This happenin’ place, located at 55 Market Place, will keep you rockin’ all night long. However, if you would rather have your funny bone tickled than to cut a rug, then you just may have to visit the Comedy Factory. The laughs don’t end until the doors lock at this great comedy club.
Step6
Finally, for the best place to pick up souvenirs, you can’t miss the Nation’s oldest market, Lexington Market. You can find anything from fresh baked pastry to live lobsters and everything in between. Merchants still use the old fashioned way of getting buyers’ attention: They yell out chants.
