Not only is salmon healthy, it's easy to make too. You can pull off a fantastic looking salmon dinner even if your cooking skills and kitchen experience are minimal. Your guests will think you've spent hours making them this treat, when in fact, broiled salmon is one of the simplest dinners to make and requires very few ingredients. Read on to find out more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Two 6 oz. salmon fillets
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 tsp. melted butter (optional)
  • sprigs of parsley (optional)
  • cookie tray (with sides, not the completely flat kind) or broiler pan
  • aluminum foil

Step1
Select Broil on your oven's settings to preheat the broiler.
Step2
Cover a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
Step3
When oven's preheated light is ready, lay salmon fillets (skin side down) on the foil. Usually one to two fillets per tray works best.
Step4
Sprinkle garlic salt, pepper, and lemon juice over fillets.
Step5
Broil for approximately 6-8 minutes depending on thickness of fillets, or until fish flakes easily. (Some people like to turn it once halfway through around 3 minutes and season the other side too.)
Step6
Optional: Pour melted butter over fillets when done.
Step7
Optional: Garnish with sprigs of parsley for an added touch.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make a complete meal, serve with garlic bread and tossed salad.
  • Add a wine of your choice. Ask your local liquor store to recommend a selection that pairs well with salmon.
