Pasta is the very heart of Italian cuisine. It is easy to cook, versatile and is actually good for you. It contains only two percent fat and is high in complex carbohydrates and protein.
250g BUITONI Maccheroni (or macaroni) cook according to instructions on packet
200g roast chicken breast meat, cut into small cubes
150g broccoli, cut into florets, boiled or steamed for 2 mins or till tender
1 small carrot, diced, boiled or steamed till tender
250g pizza mixed cheese (sold at supermarkets)
Step1
Preheat oven at 180 degrees centigrade. Meanwhile, melt butter in a pan over medium fire. Add flour and cook, stirring until mixture bubbles.
Step2
Stir in milk and cook until sauce boils and thickens (use a whisk to do this). Stir in cooked macaroni, chicken, broccoli, carrots and half of the cheese. Spoon into a 2-litre casserole.
Step3
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Put in the preheated oven and bake until the cheese melts and turns golden brown, about 15 mins. Serve hot.
Tips & Warnings
To cook pasta correctly, always add pasta to lightly salted water that is already at a rolling boil. Stir gently to prevent the pasta from sticking.
Adding oil is not necessary as it will only make the pasta difficult to pickup from the pot.
