Step1
If a disputed item comes Back as "verified",request the method of verification. If you get a notice from your credit bureaus telling you the information you disputed has been verified as accurate, you can request the method of verification, which is your right under the FCRA section 611(a)(7). The credit bureau must give you this information within 15 days of the request.
Step2
This is an extremely powerful tool to use against the credit bureaus due to the fact that they are not doing a thorough job of investigating disputes. Below is a letter template that you can send to the credit bureaus if they come back with a "Verified" response when you dispute a negative mark.
Step3
CREDIT BUREAU VERIFICATION PROCEDURE REQUEST:

To Whom It May Concern:

on 7/4/2008 Dear Army you must wait at least 30-45 day for the credit agenices to respond to your request. Do not contact them until your 30 days are up, if you do you automaticlly give the credit agencies more time to investigate your dispute. Make sure you send all letters by cert. mail.

on 6/7/2008 Hi redsonya, in reply to your comment on disputing items on your credit report you can dispute as many items as you want, but rule of thumb is only 3 items at a time to each of the 3 major credit reporting agencies. If you try to dispute more than 3 at a time they will think that all you are trying to do is credit repair.

on 6/4/2008 Do you have a form letter to send to dispute the items also? Do I need a form letter for each item I want to dispute, or can I put them all on one? thanks :)

on 4/16/2008 Yes JustEntertainment, by law if they cannot validate the debt and it's on your credit report they must remove it by law! I would follow up with the credit reporting agencies to make sure!
