Never do home color the day before an important event. Unless you have a good friend who is a hair colorist, so they can help in your time of need.
If you have a budget, discuss it with the colorist. I am asked often if I can do work for a certain price. It is not always exactly what the person wants but I am able to get them close and within their budget.
