How to Use HTML Tags for Links

HTML tags look like Greek to everyone, at first. But, you'd be surprised how easy it actually is once you understand the basic principles.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A new text document
  • About 10 minutes

Step1
IMAGE A Right click anywhere on the background color of your desktop. A box will appear. Scroll down to "NEW". Another box will appear. Click on "NEW TEXT DOCUMENT". It should immediately appear on your desktop. Double click to open.
Step2
IMAGE B Type your anchor tag. SEE IMAGE A
Step3
IMAGE C Now type the web address you'd like to use as a link. SEE IMAGE B
Step4
IMAGE D Now type in the text you want people to see. SEE IMAGE C
Step5
IMAGE E Now close your tag. SEE IMAGE D
Step6
If you want your link to open in a new browser window (most people do) just type in: target="_new" SEE IMAGE E
