Step 1
Single taxpayers, who cannot be claimed on anyone else’s tax return and have and adjusted gross income of $75k, will get a rebate of $600. Use an on-line calculator to estimate your refund if your AGI is over $75k.
-
Step 2
Married couples filing jointly, who have an AGI under $150k, will get $1,200. Use an on-line calculator to estimate your refund if your AGI is over $150k.
-
Step 3
Add $300 for each child under age 17 for whom you claimed a child credit on your 2007 return. For married filing separate, only the person who claimed the child credit will get the rebate.
-
Step 4
Seniors and disabled veterans or their widows with a low income, who don’t owe enough income tax to qualify for the full rebate may still receive checks of $300, or $600 if they filed joint returns, however they must file a 2007 tax return in order to receive the check.
-
Step 5
There are a lot of other general criteria that could affect your return. To get a more accurate figure, use a calculator such as this one. ---- http://kiplinger.com/tools/rebate/
