Today there are many operating systems that came with the PC. Among them the most important families of OS are MICROSOFT family Windows, MAC and Linux. These OS installations are different depending upon the versions and families. Now a days all are familiar with Windows as it is easy for the home,Business,Server e.t.c. The installation of Windows OS in all versions are similar but vary in apperance. Before going to installation you have idea about the BIOS, where the device settings are moodified or changed by defaults. This was an Basic Input/Output Subsystem for the PC. Generally these BIOS was a small chip placed on motherboard nearer to south bridge. If this BIOS will be damaged or changed you have to update it from a floppy by finding files from internet or from other PC. These are the steps to be taken in Installing Windows on your PC. • You must have the IDEA about the configuration of BIOS • Keep your first boot device to CD- Rom, Generally it is allocated for Floppy. • Insert the Operating System CD into the tray, Press ENTER when it asks “Boot From CD..” • The CD will run automatically and the system files are loaded in to the system. • You might ask for INSTALLING, REPAIR, QUIT. • You have ask for the partitioning the Hard Disk, or Selecting the drives which are already present and disk formats either NTFS or FAT. Be careful while dealing with the PARTITIONING. • There are the steps which it shows to follow at the bottom of the screen. • Then it RESTART the SYSTEM automatically……. NOTE : Please change the First BOOT Priority to Floppy, Because you have not seen “Boot From CD..” again. This means the system will starts normally as basic system files are loaded and installation begins as usual. • After RESTART the Installation process begins…. • It might asks for PRODUCT KEY(present on the CD or on COVER) for further processing and name for the PC and PASSWORD(optional). • It asks for Time Setting,NETWORK Configuration, Generally it takes WORKGROUP as default. • After setting your network configuration the actuall installation begins.. • It takes up to 30 min to complete.. • It again restarts and your installation completes…. • You have to install related Drivers from Mother Board for your PC to get Proper display, sound, Network. You are ready to use your PC. These above steps are common for the Windows Family OS versions from Win 98 – Win XP. For windows VISTA the whole operation is same, but there is a change in appearance and procedure. Once you are familiar with the steps in Older versions of windows thare is no confusion in installing Newer.
