Ever wonder what to do when you see split ends but like the length of your hair and don't want to get it cut? Here's a few tips for you...

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deep conditioning treatment of your choice. (I recommend John Paul Mitchell's Instant Moisture Daily Treatment and Paul Mitchell's Super Strong Daily Treatment)---(mixed together) It's a 2x punch to
  • A shower cap to protect hair from water
  • 5-15 Mins. to Deep-Condition
  • A Detangling Leave-In Conditoner (I recommend Sunsilk brand leave-in Conditioner)
  • A smoothing cream or serum (I recommend Paul Mitchell Smoothing Serum
  1. Step 1

Set shower water to a warm, temperature to prep and open up hair folicles.

  2. Step 2

Wash hair like normal, but preferably with a moisture shampoo such as John Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo. Rinse thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

Now, take your Moisturizing Shampoo (and if following my directions with recommended products, use both conditioners togther) and use a generous, GENEROUS amount of conditioner on you hair, especially paying attention to the ends, not so much the roots(the roots hold alot of oil normally)and work it through your hair so that you are positive that your hair is smothered with it. Then grab your shower cap and tuck your hair up into there to create a heated affect to your hair. (This is a good time to do anything else in the shower such as shave, etc.) After your shower cap is on, turn the water temperature up a bit to a comfortable hot temp so that the heat and moisture from the water can deep-condition your scalp by using the heat. Leave on for 5-20 minutes, or as needed.

  4. Step 4

Now, re-adjust the water temperature to a slightly cool/cold temperature. This will help you seal the moisture in as you rinse your hair. (TIP!!: Don't rinse it all out of your hair, it won't leave a greasy residue, but it will condition your hair better.)

  5. Step 5

Once out of the shower, don't blow dry your hair. Get into the habit of letting it air dry naturally. It is alot healthier for your hair-especially if your hair is fried.

  6. Step 6

Apply your moisturizing detangler and comb through. Brush softly to not break your hair.

  7. Step 7

Now, next, apply the moisturizing cream or serum to your hair. Work it thoroughly through your hair paying close attention to the ends and the front of your face. (TIP!!: If you have naturally curly hair, I recommend using Mousse to get a natural smooth curl).

  8. Step 8

Remember- let it air dry as much as you can from now on, and if you follow these directions, the overall appearance and health of your hair will shine through!

Tips & Warnings
  • Pay close attention to the ends of your hair and don't forget to highly moisturize the back also if your hair is layered.
