Treat an Ear Infection

Growing up, I always s suffered from ear infections. My latest infection caused me to go deaf for a few days over how swollen my ear canal got. I was on vacation and couldn't get to a hospital, but some nice vacationers gave me a tip that helped me out, so I would like to share it with all of you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dropper
  • Warm Water
  • Garlic Oil
  • Small Towel
  • Cotton
  1. Step 1

Before laying down to put drops in your ear, get a small towel and warm it up. I usually wet the towel with water, squish it all out, and then heat the towel in the microwave for a few seconds.

  2. Step 2

Lay on your side and place 3 to four drops of the garlic drops in the ear canal. Place a small piece of cotton in the ear to keep the drops in if you cannot lay down until all the drops have entered the ear canal.

  3. Step 3

Place the warm towel on the ear, or just behind the ear if your gland is swollen. This will help to alleviate the pain and swelling.

  4. Step 4

If pain persists for more than two days on this treatment, you may wish to seek out professional help as the infection may have gotten worse, or it may not be an infection at all and you may need medical attention.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use garlic drops every 3 to 4 hours for best results.
  • Hydrogen peroxide may be used instead of garlic drops.
  • If pain or swelling persists for more than 2 days, please see a doctor, as the infection may be more than what this treatment can help with.
  • If you are allergic to garlic, please do not use this treatment.
  • Towels heat up fast in the microwave. Please be careful to not burn yourself or your child.
