Things You'll Need:
- Video Game Console - X-Box, Playstation or Nintendo variety
- Dance Dance Revolution game
- Dance pads
-
Step 1
Purchase a Video Game system that is compatible with Dance Dance Revolution (DDR for short). You can choose a PlayStation I, II or III; an X-Box or X-Box 360, or a Nintendo Game Cube or Wii.
-
Step 2
Choose a Dance Dance Revolution game that appeals to you. There are many to choose from, so look online for reviews. You may want to start with DDR Max or DDR Max II.
-
Step 3
Purchase dance pads. There are several types and styles of pads, but if you plan to use DDR for exercise, be sure to choose high-quality pads.
-
Step 4
Learn to play Dance Dance Revolution. Most DDR games have a "Training Mode" that teaches the basics of playing DDR. Coordinating your feet with the moving arrows on the screen is challenging at first, but it gets easier the more you practice!
-
Step 5
Start using workout mode. In workout mode you enter your weight and your daily goal for burning calories. This mode won't kick you out if you don't dance well, and it tracks how many minutes you've played and how many calories you've burned.
-
Step 6
Play Dance Dance Revolution regularly, preferably several times a week. The more times you play, the better your weight loss results.
-
Step 7
Enjoy the dancing! If you just have fun dancing to the songs, it won't seem like exercise and you'll be more likely to keep it up.
