How to hair styling at the root

When styling your hair the first and most important step is to get root direction. If the root of the hair moves in the direction you want it makes the rest of the styling easy. If it does not go where you want then you will fight with the hair to get it to resemble a normal head of hair.

Things You’ll Need:

• Fingers
• Blow dryer
• Product

1. Start by sectioning the hair into as many sections as you need to gain control. You can get a little control by sectioning the hair into 4 sections. Part the hair down the middle from front to back & then from ear to ear across the top of the head.
2. For sake of a place to start, let’s start in the bangs/ Fringe area. Move the hair in the direction you want it to lay. If you want the hair flat, Using your hands hold the hair close to the scalp as you dry it, creating a more flat finished result. If you want volume, lift the hair up from the scalp and move it back and forth with the blow dryer and your hands. As the hair starts to dry then start to move the hair in the desired direction.
3. Now move into the sides of the hair moving the sides back away from the face & down. Again if you want volume lift the hair away from the head, if you want a closer finish hold the hair closer to the head.
4. Back of the head. Because you can not see this area very well, I recommend that you start with small sections and move all of the hair back and forth from center to hair line. The hair just behind the ear should be moved away from the ear, this gives the hair more movement in this area
5. Now that you are done, lift the hair and move it around until it is in the finished shape and spray with a finishing spray.
