When trying to style your hair the toughest part is getting started. There are a few things you will need before starting and this article will help you get started.
The right products. It is great if you have a hairstylist that you love and can work with that is not trying to sell you a new product every time you are in their chair. However you do need product, it will help create a long lasting hairstyle. Let’s break this down. I recommend using at least two products. One for thermal protection and condition. In a spray form there are a lot of products on the market that will work, make sure that you shampoo & towel dry your hair first then apply the thermal protecting product from roots to ends. Comb this product through. Second you need a product to either, build volume, strength (helps the hair hold a style longer), or changes texture. The best way to find the best product is to test them out.
Step2
The right tools. Okay a flat brush is intended to smooth and create a flat shape, a round brush is intended for volume and round shapes in the hair (the smaller the round brush the tighter the wave). Choose one of these to start with and you are on your way. START DRYING WITH YOUR FINGERS AT THE ROOT AREA. Step3
A plan. Okay know where you want the hair to lay when you are done with it. If possible start off blow drying the hair in the direction you want it to go. If you want lite volume move the hair back and forth in two directions while drying, this will get a soft lift from the root area. If you want it flat then blow dry the hair down & close to the head, do not lift the hair. Whatever you do, remember to follow your plan.
Tips & Warnings
Find a hairstylist who cares about your long term loyalty to them. They are not trying to sell you the store, but only what works for you.
Throw a hair party. You and a group of friends come together and bring all of the products you have as a collective. Everyone wets their hair down & tries two different products, one on one side of your hair and another on the other side. See what it does, write down the effects. Come together at the end of the evening and discuss what you found. Add wine, food & music and you could have a great time. Throw in a hairstylist for direction and wow, this could be a great event. Ask your salon, most salons would break an arm for the opportunity to do something like this for you and a groups of friends.
