In parts modeling it's all about the body part, not the rest of the model.

The great thing about parts models is that there are no strict height, weight or size requirements that come with other modeling categories. However, the best way to start your parts modeling career is to find an agent.

Not just anyone can be a parts model.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror and figure out what parts you think you'd be successful at modeling: hands, neck, legs, feet, and arms are the most in-demand. Parts models are expected to keep the skin and health of their modeling part(s) in tip-top shape. One scar or blemish could result in a loss of jobs so it is critical to protect your modeling part(s) at all times.

Parts Model Agency is one of the biggest agencies that specialize in only parts models.

Potential parts models should first look online for modeling agencies that either exclusively specialize in representing parts models or who have a parts model division. These agencies will get first dibs on the best clients that are in need of parts models.

Make sure your submission doesn't get tossed out because it is not filled out properly or you include the wrong type of photos.

Once you've gone onto the website, read the guidelines for submitting photos very carefully. Make sure you follow the rules so that you send off the right information and photos.

If you find an agent that likes you and offers you a contract, then you're good to go! However, if you don't have much luck in finding an agent, you can still freelance as a parts model and submit yourself to casting agencies, online castings and other opportunities for models without agents.

Only pursue parts modeling if you know you've got what it takes and meet the requirements.

They're not called "parts models" for nothing! Even though you may think you have a great body part to model, remember that because this is a very specialized category of modeling, your body part(s) must be stellar. Even the smallest blemish could work against you so get your skin in shape prior to a search for an agent.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your parts career is only as good as the condition of your modeling parts. One successful hand model is currently in her 60s but has the hands of a 20-year-old. Her success as a hand model is so great that her agency has taken out insurance on her hands and she is required to wear protective gloves at all times to protect her hands. She never takes them off!

  • If you can't find a modeling agency with a parts division or one that specializes only in parts models, still submit yourself to regular commercial/print agencies and tell them that you are interested in being submitted for gigs that only require a parts model. They may have a need for a model with great legs, arms, hands, or neck and could send that type of work your way instead of digging through their roster of regular models. You'll never know unless you try!

  • Parts models are about showcasing the body part and not the model so don't expect to see your face in the final product.

I like this article. Unfortunately, it suffers from the same problem that some of my articles suffer from. The google ads have nothing to do with the subject of this article. So, that chances of it earning anything is remote to zero.
