"Stroke" is a type of cardiovascular disease that affects the arteries leading to and from within the brain. A stroke occurs when there is a blockage if a blood vessel to the brain or a rupture of a vessel wall in the brain. Here are the warning signs of a stroke.

Step1
Weakness in an extremity of loss of sensation- usually one side of the body.
Step2
Slurred speech, trouble speaking or understanding speech.
Step3
Double vision or trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
Step4
Sudden and severe onset of a headache with no known cause.
Step5
If you are someone you know suddenly develops some of these warning signs- TAKE ACTION! DIAL 9-1-1! Strokes are a serious medical emergency and require immediate attention! Much of the damage caused by a stroke can be reversed if the patient receives medical attention within the FIRST THREE HOURS from onset of the symptoms. By paying attention and being informed, you can even save a life.
