Bubbles. Children love blowing bubbles, catching bubbles, popping bubbles and just watching. These are cheap and fun!
Step2
Water guns. Chasing each other in the backyard with a water gun is tons of fun for children of all ages.
Step3
Picnic Lunches. Who says you have to come in for lunch? Lay out a blanket and enjoy your lunch outside.
Step4
Sandbox. A sand box can be made of almost anything, there's no need to run out and buy one. Here are some ideas for a "re-purposed" sandbox. Baby bathtub, old wagon and a large flower pot. Consider building one out of wood, just make a simple square frame. Remember to always cover the sandbox when not in use so that animals do not use it.
Step5
Kiddie pool. A kiddie pool can be lots of fun. Of course you will have to keep a very close eye on the children when the pool is filled. You can buy a cheap kiddie pool for about 10 bucks. Check Craigslist and Ebay for the more expensive pools in used condition.
Step6
Finger Painting. Finger painting outside is definitely the way to go. Messes are easy to clean up and you can just hose off the kids before they come inside!
Step7
Camping. You don't need to leave your backyard to go on a camping trip. Just set up a tent, bring out the sleeping bags and eat outside!
Step8
Games. Simon Says, Red Light Green Light 1,2,3, Running Bases, Freeze Tag, TV Tag, Hide and Seek...these are all timeless cheap fun!
Step9
Ice Pops. Make your own and eat them outside. These are generally messy and outside is the perfect place to eat them!
Step10
Friends. Invite some friends over for a play date. Try all 9 steps listed above with them. They are all sure to have fun!
