Find Out the Value of Your (or Your Neighbor's) Home

Finding out the value of your home is important if you are planning on selling it, or want to figure out your property taxes. It also might be helpful to know the value of your neighbor's home if you plan to sell yours.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  • Phone
  1. Step 1

    Go Google's Main Page.

  2. Step 2

Type in the name of your county (such as bexar) and CAD.

  3. Step 3

It should pull up your county's central appraisal district. If it doesn't, type the name of your county and "central appraisal district" instead of CAD. If that still doesn't work, type the name of your county and "tax asssesor" If you still can't find it, see if you county is listed on www.trueautomation.com. (If that still doesn't work, go to your county's main page and look for the tax assessor phone #. Call the tax assessor's office and ask for the value of your home.)

  4. Step 4

If you access your county's CAD web-site, you can usually look by owner's name or just by address. Each site is different, but it should say "property search" or a similar phrase.

  5. Step 5

Click on "property search" (or similar phrase) and search for the value of your (or your neighbor's home.)

Tips & Warnings
  • You might also be able to see the history of your home, such as previous owners.
  • You might also be able to see your property taxes and what they were in year's previous.
