Play Pogs

Pogs, a fad game-craze of the '90s, can be a fun diversion on a game night with friends, whether you're nostalgic or discovering the game for the first time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 10 to 20 Pogs per person
  • 1 or more slammers
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you will be playing for "keeps" or just for fun. If you play for keeps, winners keep all the Pogs they win at the end of the game. Otherwise, the Pogs will be redistributed at the end.

  2. Step 2

Stack up several Pogs face down. Each player will contribute an equal number of Pogs.

  3. Step 3

Use the slammer to "slam" or hit the top of the Pog pile. The player collects the Pogs that land face up. Those that are still face down are re-stacked.

  4. Step 4

Each player takes a turn slamming the pile until all the Pogs are won.

  5. Step 5

The player with the most Pogs at the end wins.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be aware of what you're getting into if you're playing for keeps. If you have a favorite Pog you don't wish to lose, either don't play it or ask to have the Pogs redistributed at the end.
  • Try different tactics of "slamming" the Pog pile. Sometimes hitting the full weight of the slammer evenly on the top of the pile does very little damage. Find what works best with you.
  • There are many different weights of slammers available. Experiment with what you like best.
