How to Broil Salmon

Salmon is a very nutritous dish to serve as a main course. It can also be used in dips and smoked for an appetizer course. The following entree is broiled in the oven. Alternately, a grill can be used to lend a particularly charred flavor.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9" X 13" shallow metal or cermic pan
  • Brush for olive oil
  • Forks and large knife
  • 4 8 ounce salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 8 ounces herb sauce
  • 3 sliced onions
  • 1 TBSP. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  1. Step 1

    Blend dried basil, thyme, salt and black pepper in blender or food processor. Blend 1 minute or until just mixed. Do not puree. Keep aside.

  2. Step 2

    Place fillets in baking pan and brush with olive oil.

  3. Step 3

    Broil salmon uncovered, 6 inches from flame or until flesh is firm and pink( about 8-10 minutes )

  4. Step 4

    Serve fillets warm on plates with approximately 2 ounces of warmed sauce under each piece of fish.

  5. Step 5

    Garnish plates with fresh parsley and 2 lemon slices each.

  6. Step 6

    Serves four (4) generously.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check salmon frequently to make sure it is not cooking too fast. Remove from oven immediately to keep it from becoming burned or overcooked.
  • Olive oil can burn quickly
