How to Make Parmesan Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are one of those crowd-pleasing side dishes that go with just about any meal. Whether you’re serving steak, turkey or meatloaf, mashed potatoes are always a family favorite. Give your potatoes a boost with this recipe for Parmesan mashed potatoes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 medium baking potatoes
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • Salt
  • Stockpot
  • Small saucepan
  • Potato masher
  • Colander
  • Mixing bowl
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  1. Step 1

    Bring water to a boil in the stockpot.

  2. Step 2

    Peel and rinse off the potatoes, then cut into quarters.

  3. Step 3

    Add potatoes to the boiling water and cook for about 20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  4. Step 4

    Drain the potatoes in the colander, then place in the mixing bowl.

  5. Step 5

    Heat the butter and milk in the small saucepan gently over medium heat until hot (do not boil).

  6. Step 6

    Gently mash the potatoes with the potato masher, then add the milk and butter mixture.

  7. Step 7

    Add the Parmesan cheese then season with salt to taste.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try switching up the type of cheese you use with this recipe. Blue cheese, Cheddar or Swiss cheese are tasty options.
