Meatloaf is probably one of the most versatile American comfort foods. Usually sliced and served with a side of mashed potatoes, it can be grilled, stuffed or even wrapped with bacon. But the best thing about meatloaf is that it tastes even better when eaten on a sandwich the next day. Making a meatloaf sandwich is easy, especially if you follow this simple recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Meatloaf (cooked)
  • Bread
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Condiments such as cheese, mayonnaise and mustard
  • Produce such as lettuce, tomato and onion
  • Panini press (optional)
  1. Step 1

Cut your meatloaf into the desired thickness. You may want to use thick slices for a cold meatloaf sandwich and thin slices for a hot meatloaf panini since thin slices will heat more evenly than thick ones.

  2. Step 2

Choose an artisan bread for your sandwich then slice it to the desired thickness.

  3. Step 3

Layer the meatloaf slices, condiments and produce between the bread slices.

  4. Step 4

Place the sandwich on the panini press and close the press. Heat the sandwich until the cheese melts and the bread has grill marks.

  5. Step 5

    Enjoy your sandwich!

Tips & Warnings
  • Rub some olive oil and sage on the outside of the bread slices before grilling your sandwiches on the panini press to add a rustic flavor to your sandwich.
