The local library. Chances are your local library has special events for toddlers. If your library doesn't offer any, make a suggestion. Your tax dollars are paying for the this library, make the most of it.

Museums. Many museums have special events for children. Call ahead or look them up online and find out when they are. Check your area for children's museums as well.

Aquariums & Zoos. These special places are sure to be a hit with children of all ages. Google your area for aquariums and zoos. You may find something you haven't seen before. Many aquariums and zoos offer special programs for children, call ahead or look them up online for schedules.

Animal Farms. Animal farms can be a really fun place for children as they may get the chance to come up close to animals they don't normally get to see. Feeding is typically available and good hygiene should be practiced after leaving these farms.

Paint Your Own Pottery. Depending on the age of your toddler, this can be a lot of fun. Call your local shop for special children's events.

Botanical Gardens. This slow paced relaxing environment is actually very stimulating for children. Expose them to this type of venue and you will be surprised at how much fun they have just exploring natures beautiful flowers and trees.

Beaches. Children will have hours of fun playing in the sand. Bring a few buckets, shovels and rakes and let them play. Who knows, maybe they'll find some crabs or even fish!

Backyard Vegetable Garden. Children love to garden. Let them help picking berries, fruits and vegetables. Chances are, you'll even get them to their vegetables if they pick them themselves!

Pick your own farms. Many local farms offer the option to pick your own strawberries, apples and pumpkins. Children will really enjoy running around the fields searching for fresh produce. Its a wonderful way to show children how the food on the table makes it to their dinner plate.

Fishing. With good safety measures, this can be a good learning experience for children. It gets them out in the fresh air and once again will show them where our dinner comes from. Many inner city children really have no idea where their food comes from so this may be especially interesting for them.
