How to Make a Parasail
A Parasail is basically a tethered parachute. Parasailing is either done on land or over water. The parasail is attached to a long tow rope that is pulled behind a boat, car, truck or jeep. Parasailing is a very popular warm weather pastime.

1
Start making a parasail by purchasing either an old parachute or a parasail kit. There are many parasail customizing kits on the market (see Resources).
-
2
Convert the parachute to a parasail by adding a stationary bar. The bar should be made from durable, high-grade aluminum. The bar not only lets parasailing enthusiasts stabilize their position in the air, but it also forms the frame of the yoke used to pull the parasail.

3
Remove the leg straps from the parachute harness. It's not necessary to have the parasail fit as snug as a parachute.
-
4
Make the harness so that it hangs comfortably for different sized people while keeping the occupant safe. The parasail does not have to withstand the same stresses as a parachute.
-
5
Attach hooks and clasps to the parasail's harness for the tow ropes. The tow ropes should be the exact same length to avoid putting the parasail's occupant in an uneven position in the air.
-
6
Consider making the parasail a two-seater. This lets more people enjoy the ride on a sunny afternoon.
