If you have a friend or family member who is sick, you might be wondering what you can do to help. We never want to see our loved ones sick or hurting, and there are things that you can do to help a sick person feel better. Here's just a few things you can do to help a sick person feel better.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Bring your sick friend something to eat. Everyone appreciates a good meal that they don't have to prepare. Find out what your friend's favorite dish is, and make it for her family. Take the meal in inexpensive plastic disposable containers so she won't have to worry about returning the dish to you.
Step2
Lend an ear for the sick person to talk to you, as they desire. If someone you know is sick, that person might feel lonely, scared or worried. Just being there to listen to them can go a long way towards making them feel better.
Step3
Help them out with daily chores and responsibilities. When someone feels sick, they probably don't want to have to clean, cook or do other chores. Offer to do household chores such as cooking, cleaning or helping out with shopping. Alternatively, you can ask the sick person what they would like help with and then just do what they ask of you.
Step4
Send a card. You can either purchase a get-well card from a local store, or you can make a card on your own. Either way, be sure to write a nice, heartfelt message in the card. Let the sick person know how much you care for them and that you hope they feel better again soon.
Step5
Bring or send the sick person a small gift. A bouquet of flowers can really brighten up a room and help a sick person feel better. A magazine or a book can also help the sick person pass the time and that will make them feel better. Even a cuddly stuffed animal can bring a smile to someone's face.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be as positive as you can when around a sick person. You don't want them to have to deal with any additional negativity.
