Instructions

Choose your preferred dry shampoo product. Uncooked oatmeal, corn starch, all purpose baking flour, baby powder, baking soda or rice grains ground up into flour all make acceptable dry shampoos to remove oil from hair.

    • 2

Take a handful of your dry shampoo and sprinkle it on the top of your head.

    • 3

Use your fingers to work the material through your hair and down to your scalp. Concentrate on the top of the head where most of the oil accumulates.

    • 4

Brush the dry shampoo out thoroughly after you have worked it through your hair. You may need to brush for awhile to ensure it has all been removed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Oatmeal brushes out easier than do the other dry shampoo choices which are more fine particles.

  • Using baby powder for your dry shampoo also makes your hair smell fresh. Baking soda absorbs odor in addition to oil.

  • You also might want to blow dry your hair after using a dry shampoo. This adds volume to your hair and blows out any remaining dry shampoo that the brushing might have missed.

  • Dry shampoo products are also commercially sold, but are more expensive than using one of the home products mentioned above. They are used the same way.
