Make a scary face this Halloween. Follow these simple directions and have the scariest skull face around. No Hollywood special-effects artist skills required--all you need is a few supplies you can find at any costume or party store. Best of all, makeup is much safer for trick-or-treaters than masks.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Headband
  • Cream makeup
  • Makeup sponge
  • Makeup crayon
  • Makeup brush
  1. Step 1

Start with clean, oil-free skin. Oil or moisturizer on the skin causes makeup, especially cream makeup, to run. Hold the hair back from the face with a headband or clips.

  2. Step 2

Create a base for your skull face by painting the entire face with white cream Halloween makeup. Apply the makeup with a sponge or makeup brush. Coat the skin thickly.

  3. Step 3

Use a black crayon makeup stick to outline the entire eye area. Starting at the inner corner of each eyebrow, draw a black line above the eyebrow and extend the line all the way down to the top of the cheekbone. Finish the lines where they began, at the inner corners of the eyebrows.

  4. Step 4

Fill in the black outlines with black cream Halloween makeup. Apply the black makeup with a small or medium makeup brush. Use plenty. On a skull face, you want to emphasize the eye sockets more than anything else.

Tips & Warnings
  • Set your white cream makeup with baby powder. Dip a cotton powder puff or clean cotton sock in baby powder, shake off the excess, then lightly pat the white parts of the face.
