How to Make a Crepe Paper Laurel Crown
Follow these easy directions and learn to make a laurel crown out of crepe paper. All you need are a few inexpensive crafts items to make a Julius Caesar, toga party or Halloween costume complete. This project also makes a fun and educational rainy-day crafts activity for small children.
Things You'll Need
- Crepe paper
- Scissors
- Pipe cleaner
- Florists' tape (optional)
- Crafts tape
- Bobby pins
Instructions

1
Cut a strip of green crepe paper about 2 feet long. Fold the strip in half lengthwise.
-
2
Use scissors to cut small ovals down the entire length of the strip. Try not to cut the ovals all the way out; instead, leave them attached by about a 1/8-inch piece of paper. This makes the leaves for the laurel crown.

-
3
Bend a pipe cleaner or wire into a U shape. To make the laurel crown more realistic, you can wrap the pipe cleaner or wire with brown floral tape or use a brown pipe cleaner.
-
4
Wrap the crepe paper tightly around the pipe cleaner or wire, and be careful not to rip the paper. Let the leaves dangle off the pipe cleaner or wire in all directions.
-
5
Secure the paper on the pipe cleaner or wire with a small, inconspicuous piece of crafts tape. Try to hide it under some of the laurel leaves.
-
6
Place the crown on the wearer's head with the ends of the U toward the front. Use bobby pins to hold the crown in place or weave the ends of the crown into the wearer's hair.
