Backlinks are links on other websites that point directly to your site. One way backlinks are links that are not reciprocal; in other words, one person links to you, but you don't link back to them. Here are a few ways to get one way backlinks to your site.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start by submitting to search engines (see Resources). Search engines directly link to your website. The goal of a search engine is to provide users with accurate search results, and the major search engines have forms which allow website owners to provide detailed information about their web content.

  2. Step 2

Provide your website information to several of the web directories (see Resources). Many of these directories are set up to serve a niche audience, so find those that need content similar to yours. Provide the directory with clear title tags, a description of your website and keywords.

  3. Step 3

Make your site content rich. If you have a niche market, provide great articles on the subject matter and send those to websites related to your subject. Post articles on the subject that readers will see as authoritative.

  4. Step 4

Post on other's blogs. Don't spam or submit unwelcome comments. Stay serious and offer clear unbiased opinions and provide links to content on your website. Bloggers won't remove comments with backlinks if they are truly related to their sites.

  5. Step 5

Pay other website operators to link to your site. There are many bloggers and other content providers who make money in this fashion. However, this can become expensive and time consuming to send out payments each month.
