How to Make a Lego Movie Set

When you're making a Lego movie, a carefully designed set can really enhance the scenes. Pay close attention to the details and the overall movie theme as you design your movie set.

• Legos
• Poster board
• Crayons or markers
• Extra people, vehicles or other objects (trees, plants, etc.)
• Video camera

1. Determine the different scenes for which you'll need to design sets. You may have 2 different sets for your movie.

2. Map out your set on paper. Consider the action that will take place during your scene. Plan any movement of characters and the placements of each building or vehicle throughout the entire scene. For example, a car chase scene needs a path planned for each of the vehicles to get around obstacles.

3. Build the buildings for the scene. The types of buildings you'll build depends on your movie. If you're doing a pirate movie, you may focus on ships. If you're doing an action movie, you may have office buildings in the background.

4. Design a backdrop for the scene. This can be a drawing on poster board that's a picture of a sky line and the sky. Also, consider what's underneath your set. You can draw roads, sidewalks or other details on a second poster board.

5. Arrange your buildings on your poster board. Mark where things should be so that you can have continuity in your shots.

6. Include the little details. When designing a Lego movie set, add in the extra people into your design. You may also want to add trees, vehicles or other small details to make the scene more realistic.

7. Add your main characters to the scene. Have a path planned out for each scene, so that your shooting can be successful. You may want to practice each scene before you begin shooting.
