How to Get Rid of an Error 48 on iTunes When Trying to Sync an iPod
You've just downloaded some new songs to iTunes and are anxiously awaiting listening to them on your iPod. However, your excitement is short lived because you have received Error 48 while trying to sync up your iPod. If you receive the error, you must learn how to get it working again.

Open iTunes and make sure that you are running the most current version. If there is an updated version available, download and install it and try to sync your iPod again.

Plug in your iPod and open iTunes. Verify that you have your current iTunes library backed up on your computer's hard drive. If you do not, take the time to back it up.

Click on your iPod icon on the left side of iTunes to go to the iPod summary page. On this page you have the option to restore your iPod to it's original state and also update it with the current version of software, if needed.

Select to restore your iPod. After your iPod is restored, sync your songs. You should not receive the Error 48 anymore.

Tips & Warnings
Restoring your iPod deletes all of your songs and sets the iPod back to it's factory settings. Make sure that you have your iTunes library backed up before you choose this option.
